Hi Janna! I agree—he sounds conflicted and isolated. I think that's why I liked it. I've had the out-of-body experience of feeling sad and distracted while everything "should" be better than that emotionally. It's the feeling of being just a bit apart from the joyful party.
This sounds delightful to me, but the poet does not seem to appreciate his current circumstances. What do you think, and why do you like this poem?
